The other day, the the Kipplinger Report rated the Town of West Hartford as number nine in its 10 Best Cities for the Next Decade. The article talked about Blue Back Square, West Hartford Center, and our public school system being among the top in our state.
On June 15th, there will be a budget referendum and many of us are asking folks to support by voting “Yes.” We’ve got the best schools, town services and more. Here’s what Mayor Scott Slifka had to say about the budget referendum:
“A “Yes” vote supports this type of thoughtful, inclusive process. A “Yes” vote supports elected officials who listen, lead and work to find compromise, rather than governing by pure ideology. A “No” vote does the opposite. A “No” vote means that we face the prospect of working on two budgets at once, when our full a…ttention must be focused on the difficult budget ahead of us and on growing our grand list. VOTE YES on June 15.”
“When you look around the nation, we frequently see divided government. In West Hartford, the parties have come together, brought groups and individuals with disparat…e interests to the table, and produced a very reasonable budget – with bipartisan support – that also makes very difficult decisions. It is also one of the lowest increases in the region, even more so when coupled with last year’s spending decrease.”
If you are a registered voter and resident of West Hartford, be sure to vote “YES” on June 15th.
