Whether written or spoken, there is no doubt that words have an impact and can influence us, insult, empower, enslave. News commentators should hopefully be held to a greater standard than a group of folks sitting around a table at the local watering hole discussing the color of their neighbor’s house.
CNN News Host Rick Sanchez went beyond that threshold between sitting at a pub with friends and sitting as an anchor on a nationally syndicated news show. Sanchez is apparently upset with comedian and host of the Daily Sow, John Stewart and calls John a bigot.
One may say that Sanchez has the right under the constitution and free speech to say what he believes. So Why did CNN fire him? Does he have that right to do so on air? Should his comments been more tempered and should he have shown more restraint? We’ve lost our sense of civility in this country. We have many examples such as Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and a bunch of odd balls who have decided to run for Congress, claiming to be members of the Tea Party.
What’s your take on Sanchez’ firing? Should CNN have fired Rick?
