Did I hear correctly? Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell won’t negotiate with anyone except perhaps the President? Really. Then, when that tidbit hit the airways, his office promptly fired back a denial of same fast! I’m hopeful that such a report was made by an over-zealous reporter (more than likely from Fox News). I’m hopeful that Sen. McConnell, having served in the Senate for some time, understands the severity of the situation and is at the ready to make whole the ridiculous waste of time House Republicans just put this country through…
While the House bill was dead out of the house with a vote that was merely for show, we should all take a good look at it after we get the debt ceiling raised and stop this Republican train wreck. There are some things in that bill the American people need to be aware of to fully appreciate the necessity of defeating the radical and oppressive measures the Tea Party pushes at every opportunity. For instance, what’s up with setting up a separate, new legislative body or commission to review “entitlements” (Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Government Employees) who seem to have the power to fast track bills about these entitlements through the legislative process? Huh! Something very wrong with this picture.
What the Tea Party banks on is that the majority of Americans don’t read. We just listen to sound bites, respond to branding and tag lines. As crazy as these folks are, we cannot be dismissive. We cannot afford to blink.
