3.1 million jobs gained since President O took office.

The GOP’s reckless angry, in your face, hollering and bickering — whether amongst the presidential nominee hopefuls or the disgraceful, disrespectful attacks by Republicans against the President — has been so annoying. I took a break from all the noise and turned off the news for a few days.

I find it amazing to witness an entire political party so thoroughly entrenched in the darkest elements of life. Perhaps that is their mission in life. Perhaps we need the GOP to be as dark, as untruthful, as hateful and miserable as they carry themselves in order to appreciate the best of what we as humans have to offer.

Listening to the President over the past couple of days reminded me of what we really are about. His SOTU address and his speech at the University of Michigan were awesome and inspiring. A stark contrast to what the right has to offer. Arguably, the President is a better speaker than most. What made his words so inspirational and uplifting is that he spoke with truth and honesty about where we stand. We are not on the brink of disaster, we’re back. We’re moving forward and things are getting better; much better.

Some notable highlights from the President’s speeches include how we’ve reduced our oil consumption to the lowest level its been in about 16 years. The auto industry, which was in the middle of its swan song, is back on top; GM is the number one car seller in the world this year, generating thousands of jobs and opening plants. Ford and Chrysler are also investing in building their companies. With salaries rising and the cost of doing business increasing in places like China, businesses are bringing their jobs back to the U.S. Equally inspiring is that since President Obama took office, 3.1 million jobs have been added; and the rate of unemployment is at its lowest since 2009 (8.5 percent).

There’s still much to be done but one thing is for sure, we’re back.
